About Bob:
Bob Dahl was born into an established Sand Island family. His great grandparents emigrated from Norway in the 1890s and settled on Sand Island.
His grandparents, all four of them, either emigrated from Norway or were of Norwegian descent and made a livelihood of fishing and farming on the island in the early 1900s. His parents were raised and married on Sand Island.
Bob, born in December of 1942, less than a month old, he crossed over thin ice in January of 1943 to Sand Island, which would be his home for the first two years of his life. He was educated in Bayfield. Went to College in Superior, studying sociology. And then went on to get his master’s in counseling psychology. He is a lifelong learner and later earned an MBA from the University of North Florida.
Bob visits the Apostle Islands several times a year and still finds fishing off Sand Island with his brother and sister, where his great grandfather, grandfather, and father once fished to be a highlight. Bob’s stories come from the heart of a true Islander.
