Museum Docent
Would you enjoy guiding visitors through Bayfield’s unique history right here at the museum? Join our team of Docents! Duties include interpreting exhibits, answering questions, and ensuring that visitors gain a deeper understanding of Bayfield’s heritage.
Don’t know much about Bayfield? That’s just fine! At our Docent Orientation in early June each year, we brief volunteers on general areas of Bayfield’s history and BHA exhibits.
BHA Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 1pm-4pm. Create your own schedule with what works best for you!
Wednesday Weeders
We invite all community members to spend just one hour of your Wednesday morning helping us keep Fountain Garden Park of Bayfield, WI looking beautiful and upkept.
Date & Time: Every Wednesday morning, 8:30am-9:30am (Coffee to follow at a local business)
Location: Fountain Garden Park, HWY 13 and 9th St—the south entrance to Bayfield, WI

Model Railroad Maintenance
Volunteer Opportunity: Help Maintain Bayfield’s Historic Model Train Railroad
We’re looking for passionate volunteers to help maintain and care for our 200-square-foot model train railroad that beautifully represents Bayfield, Wisconsin in the early 1900s.
Why work on the Bayfield Model Railroad (BMRR)?
- Dive Into History: Help preserve and maintain a miniature version of Bayfield’s rich history, showcasing the town in the early 1900s.

Grant Writing
We’re seeking talented and dedicated volunteers to assist with grant writing for the Bayfield Heritage Association Archives & Museum in beautiful Bayfield, Wisconsin.
In writing grants, we:
- Support Local History: Your efforts will help secure funding to preserve and expand the archives and museum, allowing us to continue sharing Bayfield’s rich history with the community and visitors.
- Enhance Your Writing Skills: Gain experience in grant writing while contributing to a meaningful cause.
- Make a Real Impact: Your work directly helps the Bayfield Heritage Association secure the financial support needed to maintain exhibits, preserve artifacts, and host educational programs.
- Work with a Passionate Team: Join a group of history enthusiasts and professionals committed to preserving and celebrating the local heritage.

Presenter
The Bayfield Heritage Association is seeking passionate presenters to lecture on historical topics related to Bayfield, Wisconsin and its surrounding area.
If you have a deep knowledge of local history, stories, or fascinating aspects of Bayfield’s past, we would love for you to share your expertise with our community.
Why Get Involved?
- Celebrate Bayfield’s History: Help preserve and celebrate the unique history of our town by educating others and connect with people who share a love for local history and culture.
- Share Your Passion: Whether it’s the early days of Bayfield, notable historical figures, local industries, or significant events, your insights could inspire others to learn more about the area.
- Flexible Opportunities: Lectures can be in-person or virtual, and you can choose the topics and times that work best for you.
- BHA offers a $200 honorarium for your time and efforts.
