Riders of the Storm

Folk Art by Bob Nelson

Bayfield Heritage Association created this exhibit containing 32 paintings by Bob Nelson. The paintings are of of boats, tugs and ships that called Lake Superior and Bayfield home.

Bob is a folk artist who, at age 67, started working with pen and ink sketches, acrylic, and oil paints. Bob hails from a commercial fishing family, has fished commercially, worked with WDNR, and is a life-long Rocky Islander.

This video is a presentation Bob gave at BHA where he shows and talks about some of the paintings. He shares memories and stories about each vessel.
