2009-2010-2011 Feature Exhibits
The Hadland Hall Museum Refurbishing Project
Phase I of the refurbishing project followed a complete removal of all "old" exhibit material from the museum room after the Capital Campaign raised funds allowing for the start of this significant project. In October of 2010 Hadland Hall was dedicated with the completion of the Norwegian Commercial Fishing Exhibit.

Phase II of the Bayfield Heritage Center Museum’s permanent exhibit (This Wondrous Place) in Hadland Hall has been a continuing project, since the Phase I segment featuring “ Commercial Fishing” on the east wall was completed in October of 2010. The north wall Phase II was completed simultaneously with the mounting of the Gil Larsen photographic exhibit on June 9, 2011. The mounting of this phase of the months-long project was accomplished by our consultants Cindy Arbiture of Museum Professional Services, Inc. and Ann Koski, retired director of the Wisconsin Historical Museum in Madison, Wisconsin.

“Bayfield Flood of 1942" Educational Exhibit
The featured Exhibit for 2009-2010 was the “The Flood of 1942” story as shown in photographs with documentation by personal accounts and original Newspaper front page layouts and articles. Period 1942 room settings during World War II when this catastrophic event occurred have been removed and the exhibit has been condensed but the essence remains. This historical and educational exhibit can be seen during our summer season hours which are shown on the Home Page.
This exhibit is introduced by a life sized diorama on the front lawn of the Heritage Center which was prepared and placed in the three days before the Grand Opening on June 14, 2009.

The downsized presentation of this historic event has been moved to a smaller location in the Heritage Center.

The “RAY CAHILL BARBER SHOP”
The “RAY CAHILL BARBER SHOP” has been constructed as a semi-permanent exhibit utilizing the original cabinetry, fixtures and furniture from Rays barbershop. It displays the bottles, signage, clock, and numerous other original items including the original matchbooks that were in the shop decades ago. This nostalgic gathering place for area residents for nearly 50 years is authentic in every way possible. Planning by the Cahill Exhibit Committee began nearly a year ago headed by Marilyn Van Sant and, in consultation with Avis Cahill Evenson the committee, consisting of Tom Torke, Bumpy Sense, Bill Gover, Jim Moeller, Tom Manley and Steve Scanlan has recently completed construction and furnishing of the exhibit. With the assistance of many volunteers they have performed a remarkable restoration of the deteriorated items which have been in storage for decades. The following images show the phases of the creation of this exhibit.
